Blues 4 All in India

Never underestimate the power of football. It is truly amazing! A few of our members whilst on holiday in Punjab, India attended the Bathinda district tournament and met the players from both the Talwandi and Fhool team.

It was nice to meet the Head Coach Sardar Ji Manjinder Singh and surprised to learn about his views on how football gives the locals an opportunity to enjoy the sport, focus on health, well-being and also seen as a tool in ensuring youngsters avoid crime and drugs. A similar scenario in many inner city areas here in the UK.

We spoke about tactics, FIFA rules as well as our group Blues 4 All and the role we try to play in Birmingham especially within the Asian community.

It’s fair to say football in India doesn’t get the same level of funds or exposure as cricket however, India does have its fair share of players. We were impressed by the facilities and the standard of players. We identified a talented player in Arshdeep Singh a 19 year old centre midfielder who could one day possibly be scouted by a European club. Remember the name!

We would like to thank the Coaches, ground staff and players for the warm welcome they gave our members and we look forward to visiting them again soon.
